Verify This
I must have missed something while my pc was on the blink. When I leave comments now, on many sites I have to type in a word verification. What's up with that. Was there a problem of spam comments or something? I don't even know if my comment thing does it or not. Do you request it or is it automatic or what? I don't get it.

What you missed was a lot of spam showing up in the comments sections of blogs. So someone came up with the strange letters to verify. I have chosen not to use them. It seems better for all concerned for me to just delete the spam when it shows up.

You can turn on the word verification program at the blogger dashboard.
I found your blog through Thomas--I haven't turned on word verification yet. It is optional, as the others have said, and can help deter some of those spam comments that can be frequent. Fortunately (as I'm knocking on wood) I haven't had too much trouble with it yet...

I use it on my blog and recommended it to my daughters boyfriend.
I clicked on one that took me to a porn blog. That's not something I would want my grandkids to find.
I guess if people find it "really annoying" and dont want to take the time for the "word verification thingys" then maybe they are just too busy.
Thanks for the info. I missed all of that going on. I have seen some spam on someone's website though. But they had a verification thing on too. I guess I'll wait and hope I don't have major probs for a while. It stinks that people are doing that.

Me too switched on the word-verification after I got spam comments. Should try turning it off for sometime.
